Luxe Leather

Ultra sexy leather was all over the AW fashion week shows as models slinked down runways for designers including Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs in leather clad looks.   

Now it goes without saying that this look is not for the faint-hearted wearer with latex, PVC and leather playing a starring role in the trend.  So how can you embrace the subtler side of this trend? Details and accessories. Think leather cuffs, belts or items with leather panels rather than top to toe leather. 

If you are feeling brave then this is one look when I don’t think you can go cheap. A pleather, fake leather skirt is never going to look anything but tacky, and that sentiment times 10 if you are thinking leather trousers. 

Boy Meets Girl

I love this trend and think there is nothing as stylish as androgyny, as seen in the Ralph Lauren, Channel and Ferragamo and Celine

I would advise that you aim for a playful take on boy-meets-girl style this season with masculine coats, and elegant trouser suits.

Mix it up with feminine touches to avoid looking too manly, gloss it up with jewellery or gorgeous high heels or work in feminine colours.

This look couldn’t be easier to pull off. Think straight leg trousers, tailored blazers , all with clean straight lines.

For an added touch Invest in a pair of loafers- either heels or flats or ultra on trend brogues- to complete your boyish look.

Miu Miu versus Clarks...

I am not one to scrimp on shoe spending and no one can deny the joy of a designers purchase, but with party shoes as fabulous as these heels from Clarks, you would be crazy not to opt for the high street option.

With party season approaching, I visited my favourite local boutique in search of the perfect outfit.

Boy Meets Girl

This year’s take on the Boy-Meets-Girl look is so simple to emulate and is ultra-stylish. 

We've seen it on the catwalks of Ralph Lauren, Chanel, Ferragamo and Celine and it's a look which works on all shapes and all ages. 

Aim for a playful take on boy-meets-girl style this season with masculine coats and elegant trouser suits. But remember to mix it up with feminine touches to avoid looking too manly. Gloss it up with jewellery or gorgeous high heels or work in feminine colours. 

This Zara blouse is perfect as it has the straight clean lines of masculine tailoring but the soft cream shade and silk fabric make it really feminine and glamorous.

This look couldn’t be easier to pull off. Think straight leg trousers and tailored blazers with clean straight lines. This suit from Whistles has just the right combination of boyish charm with the feminine touch of cropped trousers. 

Outerwear is a great way to work this trend into your wardrobe. This Crombie style coat from Reiss is on trend for this masculine look and will work in seasons to come because of its classic cut.

Fabulous Faux Fur

It’s getting cold out there, and what better way to wrap up against the recent chill than with some ultra-glam faux fur.

Not so long ago fake fur was a total fashion no-go, and synthetic fluff was a sure fire way to look tacky.

But this season the only way to go is faux, with a stack of great fur pieces hitting the high street. You just need to team faux fur with the right outfit to pull of this glamazon look.

Faux fur is the perfect cover-up for evening wear because there is no real need to match colours or even hem lengths which can be such a pain when trying to find a coat to wear with a dress. This luxe brown faux jacketfrom Next will look perfect over your party season cocktail dress, your pencil skirt for the office or as the perfect way to keep cosy at a winter wedding. Keep the rest of the look simple to allow this statement piece to shine.

Feel like channelling some 70’s chic? Then this gilet from Biba is for you. Wear with black jeans, a silk blouse and some killer heels for a fabulous day-to-night look. And for this chillier days when your arms might need a little more coverage- team this sleeveless beauty with your favourite leather jacket. 

My favourite faux fur find so far has got to be this gorgeous cropped jacket from Marks and Spencer. The monochrome shades mean it will go with virtually anything and is extremely easy to wear. It’s on my shopping list as a fabulous way to bring my jeans and t-shirt style uniform right up to date but could as easily be thrown over a knitted mini dress with some knee high boots and opaque tights.

Faux fur is so fabulous..bring on the chill!!
